8 Months Old

Kate is 8 months old. She has been crawling for about 2 weeks now. She is all over the place and really fast. She loves to pull herself up to standing position, once she is there she just squeals and thinks it is the greatest thing. Her and Ty are playing more together and they both love it, he makes her laugh and squeal. I love seeing them play together.

Pancakes anyone?

It was bright and early one morning at about 6am, I was downstairs feeding Kate a bottle, Ty was next to me on the couch. Ty looked at me and said, "I'm hungry mommy, I want pancakes." I told him I would make him pancakes as soon as I was done feeding Kate. Ty ran upstairs and I heard him yell, "mommy, pancakes!" I finished feeding Kate and went upstairs to this lovely sight! Yes, that is a 10 pound Costco size bag of pancake mix all over the kitchen floor. I guess someone couldn't wait for mommy to finish feeding Kate.

A few projects

Here are a few things I have made lately.

I made this shirt for Kate. Tutorial HERE. I used one of Spencer's old dress shirts. I am really loving learning how to repurpose clothing. Saves me money on fabric.

I made this skirt for kate. Mine is a little different because it had to be smaller. Tutorial HERE.

I made this cute little fabric bag. My sister owns an upholstery business and she gives me scaps so I just used those. Tutorial HERE.

I also made this bag for my neice Dana and a matching one for her American Girl Doll. I guess it's a really cool thing to have matching things with your doll. She loved it! Tutorial HERE.

I'm Back!

My computer and camera have been giving me trouble lately so I am a little behind on my blog. Here are 2 updates for now.

Kate turned 7 months old (about 3 weeks ago).

And out of the blue we had a snow storm and got all of this snow in one night. The next day was back in the mid 50's and it was gone in 2 days. Weird! Ty loved it!

What a day!

I can't believe the past few days I have had. Ty has really been pushing his limits, especially two days ago. Here is rundown of what he did, ALL IN ONE DAY!

The first 3 he did within about 45 minutes of each other.
#1. He scribbled on my mom's leather couch with a ball point pen (yes, it came out, phew!).
#2. He got into my mom's food coloring paste she uses for her cakes and painted himself and her kitchen table. I didn't get a picture but in the next picture you will see his "pink" hands as proof.

#3. He got into the flour and sugar, pretending to cook dinner.

#4. He climbed up on the stool in my mom's bathroom and got on the counter. Put cotton balls down the sink drain and then turned the water on. Then he filled the toilet with about 1/2 roll of toilet paper, and left...yes water still running. I was feeding Kate and I thought I heard water. When I found the source there was only about 1 inch left before the water would have overflowed onto the floor. Then I had the fun task of putting my hand in the toilet to fish out all the toilet paper so the toilet wouldn't overflow.

#5. He got into my purse and got some gum, which I guess he didn't like because I found this on the stairs.#6. He shoved his stuffed "Tigger" into Spencer's computer.
#7. He woke Kate up and climbed into her crib. When I heard the two of them through the monitor upstairs and went into her room, this is what I saw!

Phew! I'm tired just typing this up. Now for Ty I would expect one or two of these types of things to happen in a day, and believe me they do on a regular basis, but ALL of them in one day. I was pulling my hair out!

So that was two days ago. This was yesterday.

My poor little guy has a temp of 104! He has been moping around the house and laying on the couch all day. Can you believe the difference in the past 2 days. Like a whirlwind over here. Today he still has a fever but he is doing much better.

Goodbye and Hello!

Ty has said goodbye to two major things in his life these past few weeks.

#1. The crib. Ty is no longer my baby in his crib anymore (wiping the tears away)! He has been sleeping in a twin bed for about a month now. I was so worried about how he would do. When we moved the crib out of his room he cried for about an hour, on and off, and kept climbing into his crib. After that, he was okay with it. He has been sleeping wonderfully in his new "big boy" bed.

#2. The binkie, or what Ty calls it, his "B". We snipped the end off it and the next time he asked for it he took it out of his mouth and said, "It's broken". I said, "Oh no, we can't fix it, we better put it in the garbage." Ty walked over to the garbage and threw it away and went on with his day. That was it!! Seriously, I was expecting tantrums, crying, hitting, screaming.....you get the idea. He has asked for it a couple of times since, but I just tell him it was broken and we threw it away and he is fine with that. I think we were the ones that were more attached to it then Ty. Funny how that works!

Now, HELLO! to this.

Yep, we got him his own little froggy toilet. Don't get too excited, we aren't potty training yet. I started putting Ty on the big toilet right before he gets in the tub because I hate it when we pees in the tub water. He pees just great in the big toilet so I thought I would get him his own. He loves it and every night before bath he goes pee all by himself. When he is done he even dumps it in the big toilet and flushes it like a big boy all by himself. Then he jumps in the tub! I figure this is a good start for when we are ready to potty train him.

Hi, my name is Heidi and...

I'm a sewaholic!! I am addicted to sewing. I just love sweing and creating things. I finish a project and right away start on another one. I find things on the internet and say to myself, "I can make that." I'll have to post a few of my favorite crafty blogs on my blog page so you too can be crafty.

I made this dress for Kate. There wasn't a pattern, just a few steps written out. I got it from the blog, MADE. I love this blog, and she is sister-in-laws with a really close friend of mine!

I made this cute felt heart garland. I got the idea from this blog. Very cheap, very easy and very, very cute! I then made this reversible nursing cover/apron for my sister, Stephanie. She has been wanting one for a long time and 2 days ago I found this free tutorial on how to make one. I also made a cute bag to go with it to keep it nice and cozy in the diaper bag, or on the run.

Lots of color!

Ty painting with water colors, and getting it all over his face in the meantime. He loves to draw, color, paint, scribble, etc.

We made homemade play-dough. Ty had a blast playing with it and cutting out shapes with cookie cutters. We have been storing it in empty baby food containers, love it.

Recipe:

2 1/2 cups flour

1/2 cup salt

1 TBSP Alum (we didn't have this so I left it out, I don't know what it is or what it does??)

2 cups boiling water

2 TBSP oil

any food coloring you want to use

Homemade Christmas

I made a few gifts this year for Christmas. And without realizing, so did a lot of my other siblings. Here are a few of them.

My sister Holli made this dress for Kate.I made this color wheel wall hang for my brother Brandon and his wife Becky.

I made this quilt for Spencer. He has been asking for one for about a year so I thgouth it was time to make him one.

I made these dishtowels for my mom.

My sister Steph made these oven mitts for my sister Holli.My sister Jenn made this apron for her daughter, Dana.

I used my sister's apron (above) as a guide and I made one just like it for my sister-in-law, Becky.

And I also made 4 of these countdown block sets for myself and my sister-in-law, Jenna. Two for Christmas and two for Halloween.

Christmas

Christmas night we set out cookies for Santa.
Christmas morning was so fun with Ty. He was excited to see what presents and toys Santa brought for him. It is a tradition in our family to line up, youngest to oldest, Christmas morning in our pajamas and take a picture before we walk into the living room and see what Santa brought for us. This is a picture of the kids (and their spouses) who were at my mom's house over the Christmas break. The rest of the siblings who are married and have their own families come over later that afternoon to open presents. I love the look on Ty's face when we opens his Tigger remote control car. So cute!
