Catch-up

I have been so behind on keeping my blog current. Spencer and I are doing great! Spencer has taken 3 finals already and only has one more left! We are thrilled to be almost done with one semester! It has been quite a challenge. The past few weeks Spencer has been very busy studying and getting ready for his finals, so I have been sewing. I kind of went crazy. I made this really cute Thanksgiving banner (I got the idea from Pottery Barn Kids), I have made about 4 skirts, a couple of dresses and few other items for Christmas presents; all in a matter of a few weeks. It has been really fun and a great way to spend my time!

A funny thing Spencer has been doing lately is sober driving. All the frat houses throw parties starting on Wednesday going through the weekend. They are required to hire sober drivers for every party they have. Spencer has been signing up to make us a little extra money. One weekend he drove 6 times and made $400! He actually has become known for being the best sober driver! People request him to drive for their parties. They say they like him because he is so friendly and talkative! One night he had some really drunk kids in the car and he had to pull over several times so they could throw-up! What a different lifestyle than what we are used to!

We are very excited to go home to Utah for Christmas! We fly in on Dec 16th and stay until Dec 27th. We can't wait to see our families and friends; we have missed everyone so much!

Halloween

Amber and Evan had a Halloween Party at their house. It was so fun to see all the little kids dressed up. We ate, laughed, played and ate some more; it was a great night! First picture is of Amber, Even and Maya Fetters as the Flinstones. They are the crazy, fun, spunky couple! The second picture is of the Mott's, the third picture is, left to right, Michael Peterson, London Vale, Alexa Vale and Ava Mott. They are so cute!

Friends

We have made a lot of friends while here in Virginia. The first picture is of Amber and Evan Fetters. They just had a baby girl, Maya, about 3 months ago. She was 5 weeks pre-mature! She is so cute and so small. Her baby blessing was a few weeks ago, and these were taken at a little open-house they had after church.

The second picture is all the law wives, left to right, Heather Vale, Lindsey Mott, Heidi Jarvis, Amber Fetters and Kim Peterson. We have a grea time hanging out together. Heather Vale is actually a first year law student too; her husband is a second year law student and they have 2 little children. I don't know how they do it! Kim's husband, Ryan, is a second year and they have a little boy, Michael. Lindsey's husband, Seth, is a second year and they have a little girl, Ava. Amber's husband, Evan, is a second year and they have little Maya!

The third and forth pictures are of the husbands, the law students! Left to right, Ryan Peterson, Seth Mott, Evan Fetters and Spencer Jarvis. Heather's husband, Scotland, wasn't there. What a fun group!

Community Service

One day I had a crazy idea that we needed to do more service! Spencer had no idea what he was in for. I signed us up to work one shift at Campus Kitchens. Campus Kitchens is a project that takes leftover food from the school's dinning services and food donations from the community and makes it into meals for kids, the elderly, etc. Our job was to make Tuna Casserole Surprise. Since they only use what is donated, some of the recipes are altered. This definatley makes for some fun tasting dishes! After 2 hours of this, I think Spencer had had enough. Afterall, he had to wear a hair net and apron that was too small. I love him for supporting me in this crazy idea of mine.

Ladybugs

They are everywhere! We can't get away from them. One day when we got home from work, our house was covered, inside and out. I guess it's common around here. The first two pictures are of our windowsills full of ladybugs...mostly dead ladybugs. They die really fast. The picture is only after one day. We would have to wipe down our windowsills everynight. The last picture is looking at our backdoor screen..it's covered. Since it is getting cold, we don't have as many. We think it is gross because they are dead and they smell funny! What a crazy experience!

Football

Spencer played on an intramural football team through the law school. The team he was on was pretty much all LDS students. His team was ranked pretty low. Yes, there was pre-season rankings..the whole nine yards. Pretty funny if you ask me! Some of the teams had jerseys made with their team name and numbers! Most of the spouses would come, we would all sit together and just chat...not a lot of football watching! I did manage to get a few pictures in during our girl chat.

Sunset

A few weeks ago we had a big storm with lots of rain and heavy winds. One night during this storm there was the brightest orange sunset we have ever seen. The whole sky and all the hills just lit up! It was so amazing.

DC Sites

After we left the US Supreme Court we had to drive straight home, but we did manage to snap a few pictures of some great sites. The first one is the United States Capitol and the second one is the Washington Monument. We loved DC. We hope to go back and spend a few days exploring all it has to offer!

US Supreme Court

Last week one of Spencer's Professors, Sean Donahue, argued a case in front of the US Supreme Court. Spencer and I got to attend and it was amazing! It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us to witness such an incredible event. Plus, it was great for Spencer to see his Professor in action. Fall colors

What a view! Spencer took this picture from our porch. Isn't it beautiful? Spencer and I are having a wonderful time in Virginia. It is quite a bit different but the change is exciting. Spencer is on the home stretch, finishing up his first semester at law school. It has been challenging but he has worked hard and is doing well. I am so proud of him!
